Permaculture Resources

What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is a design system in which we mimic ecological systems to create a renewable, regenerative, sustainable, and efficient use of the land.

We have cultivated strong and growing partnerships with permaculture resources in the Finger Lakes region.

Below are links to local permaculture organizations, as well as our other partners.

Wonderful project–many similarities to issues facing the elementary and high school gardens around the country–need for spring & fall productivity, difficulty getting volunteers, etc. How will your garden generate revenue?

Thanks for asking, one of our key considerations during the design was how to sustain the human and financial resources for the garden. We tackled the financial by planting a several unique niche crops. One is hardy kiwi–we will ask for donations when they are ripe in October. We think hungry college students and staff will be really excited about these delicious fruits. Coupling the learning and the garden work is a key way to ensure upkeep. Karryn Olson-Ramanujan is offering a 1-credit “Gardens: Ecological Design and Practice” course through our Environmental Studies department, which has been a key supporter of the project.
